Fleet Feet Sports

I just started training for a marathon and wanted to do it right. I went in to fleet feet and they watched me walk. The guy picked out 4 pairs of shoes based on my walking (some kind of voodoo magic thing). After trying 4 pairs I settled on a really comfy pair of brooks. I dropped an insole in and bought some running shorts, 2 shirts and 2 pairs of socks. All in all I spent over $300 there to get the gear I need to train.

Then I went for a 9 mile run.

Wow. My feet have never felt so good after a long run before. My calves and knees were killing me but my feet, oh boy were my feet great. Highly recommended over trying to fit yourself for shoes.

When I got there the guest list line was longer than the pay to get in line. Hmmm... does anyone pay? Downstairs it was better than bad! My buddies bought me drinks so I have no idea how much they cost. The decor is pretty modern and simple. I danced for a few minutes on the dance floor and that was cool. At least when I was there, I didn't see a lot of hotties, but it could have been an off night. Not bad, but not great.

Cafe Reverie

I applaud any cafe that will serve you something more than sandwiches and salads. Reverie has an enticing menu with a few items that stick to your ribs - like stew. I had the thai chicken salad, which was pretty good but not great. Surprisingly, it was weak on flavor and the chicken was too spicy. My taste buds don't burn easily either. I had an apricot crumble thing and coffee. Those were pretty good, but not amazing. The lady barista was nice too. Overall, I would go and hang out there. It's a great, comfortable environment! I'll eat there again too... just maybe not the thai chicken salad.

Philz Coffee

I've had turkish coffee in turkey, espresso in italy, and an orange mocha frappuccino in zoolander. I didn't think there were any new coffee experiences left!

My friend Rodney took me to Philz. Philz is drip coffee at espresso prices and a taste to die for. I got the turkish with cream and sugar. They grind the coffee, put it in a filter and pour hot water through into a cup - just for you. It had some body to it! I was really impressed. I think I've found my new favorite coffee.

I flew in today from boston to score a job, and in desperate need of a haircut after 3 months on my bicycle. I called Steven after reading the reviews on Yelp. He was able to squeeze me in in the afternoon. Im so grateful!

I told him I needed a haircut for job interviews and I wanted something different. He was up for the challenge and asked me a series of questions to decide how to cut it. He then explained exactly what he was planning on doing with my hair and it sounded great. Then as he was cutting he told me why he was texturizing the way he was etc... I liked the way he explained all the steps. Steven is professional, friendly and enjoyable to talk to.

I would go back again! Now I just need that job in San Francisco!

The Old Fashioned

Im in good 'ol Madison visiting family and was taken to the old fashioned. Of course I had to try the signature drink - the old fashioned which is a brandy based cocktail with some orange slices and a maraschino cherry. It's sweet and really allows the flavor of the brandy to come through. I currently have have an appetite that makes all-you-can-eat buffet owners cringe and at TOF I got soup, (1/2) salad and a sandwich w/ salad on the side. My pulled pork sandwich was tasty with the sweet relish inside. It wasn't dripping with overpowering bbq sauce - a big plus. Itjust wasn't enough to fill me up and i'm glad I got the other two dishes.

Overall I'd say the old fashioned is a big notch above pub grub but the menu which is heavy on the sandwiches and light on full plates of food leaves something to be desired.

I really liked the fun approach to the menu descriptions at Rotee. Food was pretty good. I got Lamb Palak Gosht which was really tasty with the right amount of heat. My buddy got the paneer tikka masala. He's had this before and it was really tasty. The sauce was really good, but I was disappointed that there was so little paneer (cheese) in the dish.

The meal was good and satisfying and almost a good deal.

Whenever I visit my friend Jim we seem to end up here. Seems that it's his favorite place. Cheap pitchers. Decent food (sushi too?!?), and t-shirts that rip off the yankees.

Both times here, I have sat in this great booth in the corner after you walk in. It's a great spot to hang out and have drinks with 6 or so friends. They play interesting music, have a dark but warm atmosphere and friendly staff.

I can't find anything not to like about this place.

San Francisco Cyclery

A 5 star average on yelp gave me good faith in these guys.

I flew in from boston and had booked an appointment to get my bike put back together. I'm biking cross country and wanted it reassembled, looked over and to buy some spare parts.

Both times I went in I was baffled by how aloof people were. I won't go into detail about my customer service experience. To be frank, I really don't care.

I have my bike put back together and it is in great shape. They put a baggie of spare parts together for me and gave me a reasonable price. The work I had done couldn't have been better. The interactions I had with staff left a lot to be desired.

Fantastic burgers fit for king with a price to match.

I got the bbq blue ring or something like that. Onion ring, blue cheese in the middle with BBQ sauce. I'm on a mission to fill myself with the most calories I can. I grabbed a beer with this as well and it was $14 bucks! I'd at least expect fries with that, or table service, or something. It's in a great spot (high rent), with great fresh food. The burgers really are fantastic. I just can't get over the price hurdle to give them 5 stars.
